9th July, Hong Kong: Fion Liew paired up with Arielle Tay and Singles Gold medallist, Arianne Tay with Althea Dang gave Singapore another one-two finish in the Girl's Doubles event of the 20th Asian School Tenpin Bowling Championships.

Arielle and Liew set a cracking pace with a sizzling 554 in their opening game to lead Filipina pair of Danielle Lazo and Grace Gella by a massive 94 pins. Japan's Erina Ishimoto and Singles bronze medallist, Haru Suzuki was third, 32 pins further adrift.

They added a lower 432 in their second game but managed to extend their lead to 109 pins as their compatriot. Dang and Arianne moved into second spot. Philippines slipped down to third behind the Japanese pair.

Despite posting only 382, Singapore A was able to remain in the lead. Singapore B moved a little closer with 75 pins separating them. The leader went on to reel in 408, 435 and 452 in the second half to seal victory with 2663 for the gold medal.

Arielle totaled 1231 while Liew posted the highest 6-games total of 1432. Dang and Arianne settled for the silver with 2607 while Japan clinched the bronze medal with 2547. Philippines missed the podium finishing fourth with 2484, 64 pins adrift.

After two events, Liew leapfrog into top spot of the All-Events standings with 2795 (12 games). Arianne Tay occupied second spot with 2692 while Suzuki and Ishimoto took up third and fourth with 2602 and 2534 respectively.

Competition will shift to the Team of Four tomorrow over two blocks on three games each. The top 16 boys and top 16 girls based on their All-Events standings (18 games) will qualify for the Masters finals on July 11 and 12.
